Walk Memories Ingleton

C Walk 14th May 2023

The walk started from Harden Bridge where 30 of us set off on a country lane going towards Austwick.

Clapham Beck Waterfall

Just before we reached the village centre we took a path to the left over the fields heading to Clapham, then after a few challenging Dales stiles we stopped for a coffee break, with excellent views across the valley looking out towards the Bowland hills.

Setting off for Clapham on a well marked path we soon passed Ingleborough Hall estate on the right Soon arriving at Clapham we took advantage of the car park facilities. After a short stop we crossed an old pack horse type bridge and made our way up through the village, stopping to take in the view of the waterfall from the viewpoint provided.

Leaving the village of Clapham behind, we progressed to the old road, following this for a few hundred yards and forked left into Laithbuts Lane leading to Newby, where we stopped for our lunch break on the village green.

After lunch we took another green lane towards Scale Mire (the lane was abundant with bright blue speedwell) and then on through the fields to Cold Coates, having to negotiate a few more Dales stiles.

From Cold Coates we descended down to the bridge at Cold Coates Wastes for another  well earned break, before setting off on Lowkber Lane to turn left into Green Lane for a few hundred yards to arrive at a ladder style and then through fields to Yarisber Farm.

We then took the old road into Ingleton passing Jenkins Bridge, Ingleton Cemetery and down to the car park which is situated on the site of Clapham station
