Details of Walks available on the Day are detailed below

A/B Walk
Leader
: David Mashiter Distance: 9 miles moderate
On leaving the coach this attractive and varied walk initially follows a former railway line in a northerly direction. On approaching Old Bilton we follow tracks and fields to the Harrogate Ringway, turning left along the pretty Nidd Gorge close to the river. Upon reaching a viaduct, our route takes a right turn to the disused railway, eventually reaching Ripley for lunch. Afterwards, we retrace our steps back to the road. We then join undulating paths and tracks through pastures, passing the three Spruisty Farms and Knox Bridge, prior to returning to the former railway for a relatively short distance. From here a road takes us to Bilton Cricket Club for refreshments and here the walk ends. This is a relatively flat walk on mainly excellent surfaces. There are 10 stiles.

C/D Walk
Leader: Michael Bates   Distance: 5.5 miles easy
The walk follows the same route as the A/B walk as far as the viaduct but instead of turning right to Ripley we turn left back to Harrogate. There are no stiles and almost all surfaces are excellent. Care needs to be taken on descending to the Nidd Gorge which could be slippery if wet. Also there is a short climb back up to the viaduct. Please note: on returning to Harrogate we will be boarding the coach for the short journey to Bilton Cricket Club for refreshments, and therefore it is important to listen carefully for announcements about the departure time.
