Walk Details
Details of the Walks available on the Day appear below

A/B Walk  Leader: Jean Ashcroft  Distance: 8 miles, moderate

We leave Grange-over-Sands on a steep and stony path, climbing up to the Hospice on Hampsfell. Following a bridleway, we contour around the fell, descending to reach a minor road leading to the village of Cartmel. Cartmel is famous for its racecourse, Priory and Sticky Toffee Pudding! We should have time to look around this pretty village before we climb out of the village, over the golf course, and back to Grange.

The paths are generally good, but some mud is expected.
1268ft of ascent and 1280ft descent.

C/D Walk  Leader: Michael Bates  Distance: Just under 6 miles, moderate
Grange is one of those places where it is hard to find a flattish walk unless you head along the seafront. Therefore, there is no guided shorter option available. Those who want to do a short, flat walk are recommended to walk along the seafront westwards towards Kents Bank.

C Walk
This varied, lovely walk with all-round amazing views has just over 1000 feet of ascent.

On leaving the coach, the route climbs through Eggerslack Wood (with a couple of steepish sections) and on to Hampsfield Farm. After passing to the left of Great Wood, we turn sharply left, climbing steadily in the direction of Hampsfell and the Hospice. Whilst we don't visit the Hospice, we skirt around the eastern side, catching sight of it later from the south side of the fell. The route then descends fairly gently towards Spring Bank and finally back into town.

Paths are generally good. One ladder stile and a couple of wall stiles.
