1st February 2026 Haworth
Our first trip of 2026 is to Haworth, West Yorkshire, on 1st February!
Haworth is a quaint little village, clinging to the edge of the Yorkshire moors. It has picturesque cobbled streets with shops, pubs and cafes where friends visit to unwind over coffee or rest after taking to the hills for a rugged moorland adventure.
Haworth is best known for being the literary home of the Bronte sisters and the majestic steam trains of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. It’s where Cathy and Heathcliffe embraced and where local folklore says passing through ‘The Fairy Cave‘ will bring marriage within a year!
More information about Haworth can be found here.
The area around Haworth offers the walker a large variety of easy and moderate walks. Explore the area individually or join one of our led walks - information about our led walks is sent out nearer the time.

Details of Walks available on the Day are shown below
A/B Walk Leader: Jean Ashcroft Distance: 8.5 miles, moderate
Heading north from the village, we pick up the Worth Valley Way and then the Railway Children Walk. We will pass several stations on the Worth Valley Railway, and hopefully we will see a steam train!
From Oxenhope Station, we climb out of the valley and join a track that leads us past Leeshaw Reservoir, then over Penistone Hill, back to Haworth.
The walk is mainly on good tracks and paths. There may be some mud, and there is some road walking. A total of around 1400 feet ascent.
C/D Walk Leader: Graham Wrigglesworth
Distance: 6 miles, moderate with shorter 3-mile option available
Leaving Bronte Village car park, we pass around Howarth School and join the Worth Valley Way to Mytholmes Road, before joining the road to Oakworth. As we climb towards Oakworth, we take a right up some steps to a walled path, which we follow to Oakworth Station. We then pass over the level crossing and then head back to Haworth, having lunch at the bandstand in the park. At this point, anyone wishing to return to Haworth can do so.
The second part of the walk takes us along the Worth Valley Way to Oxenhope. Just before the station, we cross to the right and return to Haworth along the Brontë Way, exiting at the church at the top of the Main Street.
Good paths, some steps, a few climbs, no stiles on the first part (only kissing gates).
