7th December 2025 Otley

Our last day out in 2025 is to Otley for the Victorian Christmas Fayre! Our usual led walks will also be available.

Sitting on the border between West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire in the beautiful countryside of Lower Wharfedale, Otley is a thriving market town with plenty to offer. Just 10 miles from Leeds, this pretty town is steeped in tradition – from the monthly Farmers’ Market to the quaint All Saints’ Church and picturesque Otley Chevin Country Park.

More information about Otley can be found here.

The area around Otley offers the walker a large variety of easy and moderate walks. Explore the area individually or join one of our led walks - information about our led walks is sent out nearer the time.

Details of Walks available on the Day will appear below

A/B Walk  Leader: Tony Culverhouse  Distance: 8.5 miles, moderate

We head west out of Otley along West Lane to Weston. Our route then heads north-east along Moor Lane before diverting west along Hallam Lane to the village of Askwith. We then follow East Beck north to join and climb a different Moor Lane before taking a footpath south-east across Weston Moor to Newall Carr Road, continuing in a southerly direction. We head along a minor road to the small village of Clifton, before resuming our south-eastern journey back to Otley

C/D Walk Leader: Graham Wrigglesworth Distance: Approx. 7 miles, moderate (some stiles) with a shorter option available

Starting from Otley, we proceed down to the River Wharf and follow the river to Leathley Bridge. We then walk along the B6161 before taking a path to the right to Pool Bridge, where we stop for lunch. Continuing to Pool in Wharfedale, we follow Pool Bank and head through fields, passing Caley Hall Farm and Brick House Farm. We then follow a lane and a path back into Otley.

Anyone wanting a shorter walk can start with the main walk along the river, and then return (following the river) when it suits, making sure you let the walk leader or back marker know before heading back.
