Details of the Walks available on the Day appear below

A/B Walk Leader: Tony Culverhouse Distance: 10 miles moderate
We leave Bakewell and head south along sections of the River Wye to join the Monsall Trail.  We follow an interesting section of the Trail (disused railway) passing three old stations – one of which was built by the Duke of Devonshire to serve Chatsworth House a few miles away. The Monsall Trail takes us to Little Longstone and the dramatic viewpoint of Monsall Head. Paths and tracks then lead us to the pretty village of Ashford in the Water. We then follow sections of the River Wye back to Bakewell.
A fairly level walk with little climbing.

C/D Walk Leader: Michael Brooker-Carey Distance: 7.5 miles moderate with a shorter 3.5-mile option.
This walk will give excellent views, some woodlands and the pretty village of Ashford in the Water.

We leave Bakewell along the River Wye and then have a short climb before walking through woodland to Rowdale House. We then walk to the Monsall Trail (the old Midland main line railway from Manchester to London) where we will take a break. Those wishing to do the shorter walk will then leave us to return to Bakewell.

The walk will then continue along the Trail through Headstone Tunnel towards Monsall Head with its famous views. We will then head to Ashford on the Water where we will take a look at the Old Pack Horse Bridge on the River Wye before heading back to Bakewell.

A few stiles and may be muddy in places.

Michael is a very experienced walk leader, and has been coming on our trips for a while, but this is his first leading experience for the Coach Rambles!
