B Walk Leader Tony Culverhouse. Walking Distance 9 miles Moderate

We head north from Chirk along the Llangollen Canal, where we eventually reach the Offa’s Dyke path.  We now follow this path heading in a southerly direction to reach Mars Wood on the edge of the vast Chirk Castle estate.  Chirk Castle is owned and managed by the National Trust.  The route now crosses the River Ceiriog near Pen- y-Bryn where we leave the Offa’s Dyke path and head east through Bronygarth.  We now follow the River Ceiroiog and under the splendid arched railway bridge and the canal aqueduct before heading north back into Chirk.

C/D Walk Leader Michael Counter Walking Distance C walk 7.5 mile, D walk 4 miles both Moderate.

We alight the coach at the car park in Chirk and follow the road towards the station and to the magnificent gates, the old way into the Chirk Castle Estate. We now begin the steady climb along estate roads to reach the splendid Chirk Castle  (managed by the National Trust.)  Members enter Free, non-members Adults £15.
People who only want the shorter 4 mile walk can leave the party here and head back down through the Deer Park along an estate road to reach the road and then back into Chirk.

The rest of the party will continue and head up towards the Offa’s Dyke Path ( a long distance route running north/south down the full length of Wales for 177 miles) which we then follow, heading steeply downhill before crossing the River Ceiriog.  We now walk along The Llwybr Maelor Way to Chirk Bank where we then join and follow the Llangollen Canal at Gledrid Bridge.  The towpath leads us at a high level across the aqueduct, and then back into Chirk.
