Coach Trip to Osmotherley

Osmotherley is an English village and civil parish, situated in the Hambleton hills in North Yorkshire. The village is the western edge of the North York Moors National Park.  The Cleveland Way a long distant footpath passes through Osmotherley.

A Walk       No A walk today

B WalkLeader   Chris Thornley            9 miles Moderate

From Osmotherley we take the Cleveland Way to Whitehouse Farm and continue to Oakdale Upper and Lower Reservoirs.  Onto ThimblebyMoor to join a quiet minor road. We follow this in a northerly direction to Chequers and Solomon’s Temple. Continuing northwards we take High Lane, another quiet road, to Skarth Wood Moor to rejoin the Cleveland Way to reach Beacon Hill before returning to the village.  Extensive views over the Vale of York on this walk.

C Walk        Leader   Carol Higgins

D walk        Leader   Carol and Derrick Fielding        7 miles    Moderate

Leaving  Osmotherley we follow the Cleveland Way in an easterly direction until we pass Whitehouse Farm. We then take a quite road uphill to High Lane, an old drovers road, with magnificent views so far.  This level track then leads to the descent to Sheepwash and then an uphill stretch to rejoin the Cleveland Way which we follow along moorland and forest tracks back into Osmotherley.  Great views most of the way.

From Carol and Derrick Fielding -  A suggestion for a shorter self led walk is to Cod Beck Reservoir. Leave the village going uphill for just over a mile to reach this very popular water. A circular route is possible about a mile and a quarter.

The Osmotherley Tea and Coffee cafe is staying open past their usual opening hours today for us - so please support them.  Thanks to Carol and Derrick for arranging this.

Pick up time for return journey.   Returning Home:  6.00pm.  There is no coach park in the village so the coaches will return to collect everyone for the journey home.
